Liz Hinlein


As a commercial Director/DP, Liz has traveled the world working for high profile clients such as Dove, Revlon, Maybelline, Olay, Woolite, Gillette and Nivea. Projects have taken her to China, Moscow, Prague, Brazil, Poland and Thailand. Her work is dominated by celebrity talent such as Kelly Garner, Jonathan Tucker, Halle Berry, Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige among others.

Her award winning short films White Boy's Can't Dance, Mistress Ruby and Haute Voltage have screened at The Berlin Film Festival, Slamdance, NY Indie Film Festival, Comedy Central and The Hamptons International Film Festival to name a few. Haute Voltage was featured on the Slamdance DVD compilation entitled The Dirty Dozen/ Twelve Angry Women.

As a director of photography Liz shot the 2009 feature film Ffith Form which won the Gold Award at Worldfest and Best Narrative at the Urban Suburban Films Festival and has played around the country. She recently shot two high profile web series -Maybelline's The Broadroom written by Candice Bushnell starring the ensemble cast of Jennie Garth, Jennifer Esposito, Talia Balsam, Mary McCann and the popular Anyone But Me series for Strike TV. For the upcoming black women in rock documentary, she shot Nice and Rough starring Nona Hendrix and Cindy Blackman.

Liz was born in Philadelphia, received a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a MFA in cinematography from the American Film Institute. Currently Liz is in pre-production on her feature film Other People's Children.
